What is OneCaribbean?
OneCaribbean is the online community for the Caribbean Tourism Organization. It’s an Intranet - that means it's visible only to its members and not the rest of the world, although some sections of the site - the Extranet - are open to non-CTO members.
How does it work?
OneCaribbean is really a collection of "virtual groups", all with their own four central components - information centre, calendar of events, chat and discussion areas, and people area.
Join Onecaribbean
All current financial members of CTO can become members of OneCaribbean. On the home page - www.onecaribbean.org - click on “Join OneCaribbean” and fill in the form. Once you’ve applied online and been given a password, you become a member of OneCaribbean Community, which is the first level of membership.
You can then apply to join our CTO Members Only group, with access to documents related to CTO’s projects, work programmes and operations. You’ll also be able to join other groups that may be part of the site. You won't need another password to access the CTO Members Only group.
My Home
This is the first page you see when you log in. From here, you link to information, people, events and discussions that interest you. You can change your membership, personal and company details; change your special interests, manage your OneCaribbean email account, or even upload a picture of yourself for other members to see. You can also suggest new groups to be added to the site.
My Email
As a member you will receive a free email address allowing you to send and receive email online at OneCaribbean.org. This means that you can access your OneCaribbean email account from anywhere in the world. Use it to communicate privately with other OneCaribbean members, or just to keep in touch.
Would you like access to your home-based email account when you travel? Simply forward your incoming email to your OneCaribbean account before your departure and stay in touch wherever you are in the world.
Information Centre
Travel Market news, tourism statistics, sustainable tourism information, library text abstracts, reports and studies…just some of the information currently available in the Information Centre, with more to come.
Some information is open to the public, like media releases in the Newsroom, Travel Market News and general information on the Caribbean Tourism Organization. Other information, like in-depth tourism statistics for the Caribbean, reports, studies, and marketing information is accessible only to OneCaribbean members.
People
You’ll be able to contact other members of OneCaribbean. You can send them an email, keep in touch and chat online in real time. The site provides a user-friendly environment for members to share documents, create event calendars, and discuss topical issues. You can join other "virtual groups", such as country chapters and special interest groups.
Calendar
The main calendar lists dates and locations of CTO Secretariat events as well as those of our member countries. Each group also has its separate calendar to keep track of events.
Discussion
OneCaribbean provides two ways to discuss and share knowledge about the topics that interest you. Our Forums host themed discussions on specific topics. If you need expert advice or an opinion on a subject, or if you just want to find the answer to a difficult question, try posting it to a forum.
Our Chats let you to talk in real time with anyone who is logged in, anywhere in the world. Your chat can be private, that is, restricted to members of your group, or public. It's up to you!
